Animation news

Exciting news: A state-of-the-art animation center is set to open in Design Studios on Broad garage in fall 2018. Fundraising is underway for the center, which is supported by a grant from the state of Ohio, a gift from CCAD Trustee Gil Cloyd, as well as individual donors. No tuition dollars will be used.

 

Magic School Bus series: African cuisine

Catch a ride on the Magic School Bus tonight, Monday, Nov. 6, where we’ll be traveling to Intercontinental Restaurant. Enjoy Nigerian, African, and West African Cuisine. The bus departs from the Art Sign at 6:45 p.m.

 

& Ampersand goes online

Ampersand Emporium, our store for all things CCAD pride, is now online! Pick up your favorite gear from the comfort of your home — or gently nudge your parents to do a little shopping.

Want to stretch your legs? Head over to Ampersand Emporium to grab a gift or snag a frosty LaCroix. The store has special Saturday hours in November and December.

Registered to vote in Ohio? Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7. Check your registration and find your polling location here.

 

Thanksgiving Break deets

Thanksgiving break begins Wednesday, Nov. 22. CCAD campus offices close at 1 p.m. Nov. 22 and will remain closed until Monday, Nov. 27. Labs will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23.

The Market will serve dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 21, and then will closed until breakfast on Monday, Nov. 27. Ampersand Emporium will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 22, through Friday, Nov. 24. The store will resume its hours of operation on Saturday, Nov. 25.

The Café will be closed over Thanksgiving break. Find additional details about building and facilities hours during break here.

 

Speaking of facility hours...

Get ready: CCAD labs will have extended hours for weeks 14 – 16 of the semester (that is, starting Monday, Nov. 27).

 

Register now

Secure your spot for spring semester classes! Graduate students, seniors (students with 90 or more credit hours), juniors (students with at least 60 credit hours), and sophomores (at least 30 credit hours) can register for the spring semester now. Freshman registration begins Monday, Nov. 13.

 

Registration details for first-year students

First-year students must see an advisor before they can register on Monday, Nov. 13. Advising appointments are made at the One-Stop or by calling 614.222.3295. Students are encouraged to make appointments for the week before Monday, Nov. 13, or the week registration begins. Questions? Email [email protected].

 

Open advising sessions

Have questions about spring schedules, academic plans, and course registration? Attend an open advising session from 11 a.m. to noon in the Canzani Multi-purpose room on Monday, Nov. 13, or Monday, Nov. 27.

 

Career Services meeting for freshmen & sophomores

You might not be pursuing a job or an internship right now, but there are important steps you’ll want to take to make sure you’re on track. In this meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7, Career Services’ Jordan Bell will discuss expectations for your freshman or sophomore year and how they can impact your success further down the road.

The Poet's Life

Experience an evening of poetry and film on the meaning of becoming a poet Thursday, Nov. 9, with the Beeler Gallery Visiting Artists & Scholars Series event The Poet’s Life. Poet David St. John will read from his work, followed by a screening of the documentary A Late Style of Fire, about his friend, the late Larry Levis. The documentary will be followed by a Q&A with St. John and filmmakers Michele Polous and Gregory Donovan.

 

Suzanne Silver: Codes and Contingencies

Semaphore signals, international maritime flags, Morse code, and color-coded poems signal cryptic pictures of distress in Suzanne Silver’s site-specific installation Codes and Contingencies, on view at Beeler Gallery for seven weeks starting Thursday, Nov. 9. Silver will talk about her work as part of the Beeler Gallery Visiting Artists & Scholars Series on Thursday, Nov. 16.

 

Thanksgiving lunch

Don’t miss out on the CCAD Family Thanksgiving meal, Monday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in The Market. The turkey-fest is free for all students. And if you're sticking around for Thanksgiving break, be sure to mark your calendar for a potluck meal on Thursday, Nov. 23.

Learn how to avoid classic online missteps and faux pas — and discover the benefits of a well-crafted online brand — at a web presence workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Junior Fashion Design student Ran Tao (Peach) will see her dress design sold online this spring thanks to a CCAD partnership with plus-size contemporary brand ELOQUII, which is based in Columbus

The Student Government Association continues its weekly lunches at The Market through Wednesday, Dec. 13. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, Nov. 29, and Wednesday, Dec. 6, when CCAD President Melanie Corn will join the informal get-togethers

 

The Art Fair cometh

The winter Art Fair & Marketplace is almost here! Invite your friends and family check out the goods (including handmade jewelry, paintings, ceramics, stationery and other works) on Saturday, Dec. 2. Sale proceeds go directly to the artists (that is, fellow CCAD students and alumni).
