Sophia Kartsonis received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah, an MFA from University of Alabama and a Ph.D from the University of Cincinnati. An associate professor at Columbus College of Art & Design, Sophia Kartsonis has been at the college since 2009. She teaches Writing Poetry, Writing Fiction, 20th Century Literature, and Advanced Creative Writing in the Writing, Literature and Philosophy department. She is also the faculty advisor for Botticelli Magazine, the literary and art journal of CCAD. She has authored three chapbooks: EMUseum, Dancing Girl Press, 2010, & Aloha Vaudeville Doll, Dancing Girl Press 2014, By Some Miracle, a Year Lousy with Meteors, winner of the Dreamhorse Poetry Prize, published in 2012; as well two full-length collections of poetry: Intaglio, winner of The Wick Poetry Prize, published by Kent State University Press in 2006, and The Rub, winner of the Elixir Prize. Her short story, Sundress, published in Glimmer Train, was selected by Stephen King as a Distinguished Story in the 2006 Best American Stories Anthology. Kartsonis was the 2012 recipient of the CCAD Teaching Excellence Award.
