When it all started, was anyone watching?

CCAD is making a video about the journey that creative professionals take from childhood through college and into the creative economy. And we want you to be part of it.

CCAD alumna Inka Essenhigh (CCAD 1991) has a busy exhibition schedule this year with her work traveling to Japan, Ohio, Maine, and Tennessee.

Anne Holman (CCAD 2002) is featured in The New Artisans: Handmade Designs for Contemporary Living, a book that presents artisans and their craft.

Written by Olivier Dupon, a design expert and blogger, the book profiles 75 artists from all over the world who use craft techniques to create one-of-a-kind objects. Holman has a multiple page spread, which includes her bio and several images of her work.

Alumna Samantha Bennett (CCAD 1995–1999) will have a solo exhibition, Scars Portraits and Beyond, at Hayley Gallery in New Albany, OH.

This is the Fine Art alumna's first solo exhibition at the gallery. Work in the show will include memorial portraits of famous people, cityscapes, and other pieces that reflect Bennett's personal journey.

Columbus, OH, is turning 200 and to celebrate the city has gathered 56 international, national, and local artists including CCAD alumnus and professor Tim Rietenbach to create in public art projects around the city.

Alumna (CCAD 1997) Laine Bachman's solo exhibition, Birds of a Feather, was featured in a review by The Columbus Dispatch.

The review described Bachman's paintings as lying in "a realm amid fairy tales, mythology, and the everyday experiences of parenting." The feature also explained that "the new series was also shaped by the curiosity of her 5-year-old daughter."

The end of 2011 has come and gone, bringing with it the annual publication of top 10 lists. Online media resource, Columbus Underground posted lists that covered everything from restaurants to artists, and it's no surprise that we spotted two of our own Fine Arts alumni.

Columbus College of Art & Design is in the early stages of a new endeavor that will change how the college engages its students and alumni with entrepreneurship and the business world.

The program, called the CCAD MindMarket, will have many facets including business partnerships, charrettes, and a business incubator—which is about to enter its beta phase with a few alumni.
