Life at CCAD

As the Alumni Relations office, it’s our job to stay connected with you, our alumni, to promote your success and ensure that the relationships you formed while studying at CCAD last a lifetime. Since CCAD graduates spend so much of that lifetime on computers, we’ve looked hard at our presence on the internet over the past few months, adding new venues of communication and adjusting old ones. Here’s what’s new.

CCAD has educated young artists since 1879, so we’ve got a lot of history—not to mention more than 10,000 living alumni. We just can’t resist dipping into their wealth of untold stories. Most recently, we delved into our records to identify a graduate from every decade for which we are lucky enough to have a living alum. We asked them all just one question: What was CCAD like when you were a student?*

We thought you’d like to hear back on how the 2010 Alumni Survey went. In a word—great. We nearly quadrupled the participation rate since our last survey. And while that was really reassuring, the best part was getting to know our alumni better. Here’s what we found out.

CCAD alumni:
Are everywhere. Sixty years worth of graduates from all majors responded to the survey. They live in 36 of the United States and seven other countries (including one alum who responded from an RV he is driving around the U.S.!)

Jennifer Marsh (CCAD '04) is dreaming big for the next project she's organizing on behalf of the International Fiber Collaborative (IFC), a nonprofit grassroots organization she founded in 2007.

Jerry Ulibarri (CCAD, '90) and his company Kobolt Studios are applying their mural painting skills to fixing a downtown Columbus building.

When the pedestrian bridge that connected the City Center Mall to the former Lazarus building was removed, a large hole was left in the marble saw tooth façade above the storefront. Once the hole was filled with pre-cast concrete Ulibarri stepped in to paint the pre-cast to look exactly like the marble.
