American Greetings is among a number of big-name businesses that seek out graduates of Columbus College of Art & Design. We spoke recently with a recruiter at the Ohio-based company about why the company hires so many CCAD grads.

Jason Moore (1996, Advertising & Graphic Design) is the founder of Fulcrum Creatives, a branding and design agency (and certified B Corp) that works specifically with cause-based clients. The office is just a stone’s throw from campus, where Moore teaches a class in the department where he once studied.

Every year at Columbus College of Art & Design, faculty members from each major select an Outstanding Senior based on their academic and artistic accomplishments.

ADVERTISING & GRAPHIC DESIGN

CCAD alumnus Erik Maell (Class of '94) has spent the past 2 decades working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, creating artwork for international clients such as Lucasfilm Ltd, The Walt Disney Corporation, Universal Studios, Topps Trading Card Company, Marvel Comics, and DC Comics. As a fine artist, he has exhibited his paintings in many solo and group shows across the United States and in Europe.

Twenty years after the original logo was born, CCAD design alumnus Will Bennett (Advertising & Graphic Design, 1997) is helping usher in a new era for one of Major League Soccer's leading teams.

When the Columbus Crew surveyed fans in 2012, they were hit with a hard reality—their demographic was changing. Millenials were beginning to pack their stands. The team's owner, Anthony Precourt, who took over in 2013, knew the brand wasn't going to keep and immediately set out to change the face of the team, starting with a new logo.

Watercolor illustrations by alumna and blogger Malia Carter (CCAD 2013) bring Stephanie Simons's debut book All’s Fair in Love and Wardrobe: A Fashion Editor's Rules on Shopping for Love to life.

Released July 15, the “dating rulebook for fashion lovers” includes tips, tricks, and advice from Simons, a fashion editor.

Works by several CCAD alumni and faculty are part of exhibitions around central Ohio this summer.

The boundaries of the photographic medium are pushed in Fragments of an Unknowable Whole. The group exhibition includes works by Advertising & Graphic Design alumna Eileen Mueller (CCAD 1965), Media Studies Still-Based alumnus Mike Olenick (CCAD 2000), and Assistant Professor of Photography Shannon Benine.

Sketches by alumnus Chris Campbell (Animation 2013) and Animation Professor and alumna Charlotte Belland (Advertising & Graphic Design 1997) are featured in Urban Sketching: The Complete Guide to Techniques by Thomas Thorspecken.
