Alumnus contributes to summer blockbuster
As a board artist for Universal Pictures, Matt Flynn (CCAD '03) developed storyboards to help create and test the script for the summer blockbuster Despicable Me. Flynn's concepts can be seen throughout the movie, as well as in the trailer--specifically the minion cannon scene.
Flynn also contributed to the film in another big way: his idea for the film's title was chosen during a title development contest
“The film changed titles midway through production,” Flynn said. “The producers asked the entire crew to submit titles, and mine was chosen.”

Animation alumna wins Best Student Film Award at block party

Alumnae exhibit films at 2010 animation block party
Two CCAD alumnae have films accepted into the 2010 Animation Block Party, a New York City-based event dedicated to exhibiting the world's best independent, professional and student animation.
Short films by Barbara Benas and Kartika Mediani, both 2010 graduates majoring in Animation, will be shown on the second and third days of the festival at BAMcinématek in Brooklyn.

Media studies alumni work day & night
Alumni Michael Altman and Stephen Galgas worked on Pixar’s Day & Night, an animated short film starring the keepers of daylight and darkness that is seen in theaters before the feature film Toy Story 3.
Galgas worked several months as a 2D animation production coordinator on Day & Night and Altman was responsible for modeling and articulating all of the short’s 3D characters. Altman also worked on Toy Story 3 as a technical director in modeling and articulation, focusing on rigging toys in Sunnyside Day Care.

Vote for Telly Awards entry by animation faculty, alumni by April 16
A TV commercial produced by CCAD Animation faculty and alumni has been judged as a bronze Telly Award winner in two categories and is in the running for The People's Telly Awards Presented by YouTube®. The deadline for the public, peers and enthusiasts to vote is April 16.

CCAD alumnus casts spell at film fest
Joaquin Baldwin (CCAD, '06) will present his award-winning, 3D animated short, Sebastian’s Voodoo, at the Columbus International Film & Video Festival on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.
The screening is part of the Animation 4 Adults 2 program, which starts at 7:30 p.m. in CCAD’s Canzani Center auditorium.
The Columbus International Film & Video Festival kicks off Nov. 10.
