The Columbus International Film & Animation Festival is the oldest film festival in the U.S. But the festival presented by Columbus College of Art & Design has a lot of new things coming in 2018.

For starters, the festival has a new name — it was previously known as the Columbus International Film + Video Festival — and expanded animation screenings.

Khaila Carr (Illustration, 2018) contributed to Bob's Burgers (see her work around 0:16).

“All About Waiting,” a new music video by songwriter and composer Dhani Harrison (son of Beatle George Harrison) has grabbed the attention of the likes of Rolling Stone magazine — and has plenty of Columbus College of Art & Design connections.

Head to the all-things-gaming site 80 Level to nerd out (in the best way) over the work of Joe Maleski (Animation, 2013), a 3D modeling & surfacing instructor at CCAD.

As a huge fan of the popular game Overwatch, Maleski decided to use his passion for 3D modeling and illustrating to study the style of the game visuals.

Columbus Alive has listed Columbus College of Art & Design grad and local animator Sarah Schmidt (Animation, 2014) as a world changer and culture influencer in their People to Watch series, and we couldn’t agree more.

CCAD grad Annie Burley (Animation, 2016) is now an artist in residence at Millworks Art Studios.

She was featured in a recent Columbus Alive article that also mentioned a few other past resident artists and CCAD alums: Cameron Granger (Film & Video, 2016) and Visiting Faculty Liz Roberts (MFA, 2014).

Smokey Bear’s the name — no “the”s about it. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources teamed up with Columbus College of Art & Design and members of 2Tall Animation Studio to research, design, and create a fresh video and song for Smokey Bear.
