This semester, I'm taking John Kortlander's Advanced Figure Drawing class. Figure drawing has always been one of my favorite activities, and it is necessary to take several levels of drawing if you are an Illustration major like me.

Last weekend, I went to Ohio State University’s Wexner Center for the second time. Everyone who grew up near Columbus and has even a casual interest in art probably thinks that’s blasphemy, but because I’m from out of town, I had no idea how cool it is.

"Just give me one more rep! One more lap! I can go for another half hour if I just push some more!" These are the words you grow so accustomed to hearing, whether it comes from your internal drive or a coach (mothers and fathers can be grouped in this category as your ’biggest fans’). So it comes as no surprise that you seek that familiarity once you get to CCAD.
It's a question that comes up a lot: how you can continue—or begin—your fitness regime. So, being the promoters of self-development that we are, here are some answers.

It’s Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, and a long-running tradition is underway—the Thanksgiving meal with the CCAD family. Stewart McKissick is wearing a chef’s hat and standing alongside other faculty and staff, similarly donned, and serving lunch to students excited to have a holiday meal with everyone on campus.
Stewart, chair of Illustration, is an alumnus from the class of 1979. He has been employed at CCAD since the ’80s. This past year Stew has shepherded more change for Illustration and the institution than in any past year.

The Big Boo is arguably CCAD's most anticipated and most exciting annual event. When I was in the admissions process, I remember seeing pictures of the massive Halloween party and thinking it made perfect sense that an art school would have over-the-top, crazy, super creative costumes. I've seen a giant bloody poptart, a fully realized and historically accurate Marie Antoinette, and countless giant furry monsters.

Fall means changing leaves, cooler temperatures, bonfires, and trebuchet launches. What? You didn't know trebuchet launches mean fall is here?
Well, that’s how we are celebrating on campus during the Alumni & Family Weekend, Oct. 4–5—and this year the events are bigger and better than ever.

This year, the Alumni Relations team will revamp the award by adjusting the timeline to allow an earlier call for nominations and more time to coordinate plans with the recipient.

Molly Gilbride, alumni & parent relations officer
Columbus College of Art & Design has its first ever full-time Alumni & Parent Relations Officer, Molly Gilbride. We sat down for a chat to get to know her a little better and find out how she came to Columbus and CCAD.
Q) So, first off, where did you grow up?
