Illustration alumnus Joe Jobst's (CCAD 2001) most recent work is showcased in the video game Grand Theft Auto V, released Sept. 17 by Rockstar Games.

The game has been met with positive press and rave reviews about the game's expansive cityscape and detailed visual effects.

Illustration alumnus Dan Scanlon (CCAD 1998), director of Disney/Pixar's $700 million-grossing flick Monsters University, and producer Kori Rae will take home the Hollywood Animation Award at the 17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Oct. 21.

Along with making his directorial debut, Scanlon also co-wrote the film's story and screenplay.

CCAD alumnus Brent Bowman has teamed with Columbus writer Dara Naraghi to produce the first book in a graphic-novel trilogy, Persia Blues, to be published by NBM Publishing of New York.

Illustration alumnus John Jude Palencar (CCAD 1980) had his painting Pagan accepted into the Butler Institute of American Art’s annual national juried show, the 77^th National Midyear Exhibition.

The show, which ran July 30–Aug. 18, was open to artists over the age of 18 working in two-dimensional media. Jurors for this year’s show were North Carolina gallery owner Jerald Melberg and Western Pennsylvania painter Thomas G. McNickle.

Illustration alumnus John Malta (CCAD 2010) illustrated the front page of the The New York Times Sunday Review on Aug. 11.

Illustration alumnus Ron Miller (CCAD 1970) was recently featured on Huffington Post for his artwork depicting what the world would look like if planets replaced Earth’s moon.

He also created several images of what it could look like when the world ends and what Earth would look like if it had rings similar to Saturn's.

Illustration alumna Brianne Schulze (CCAD 2012) and Fine Arts alumna Nicole Strouss (CCAD 2008) had work in the group exhibition Inspired! Young Ohio Artists 2013 at the Ohio Craft Museum in Columbus, OH.

The exhibition, which ran July 14–Aug. 18, featured work from nearly 30 young artists who got their start in an Ohio college or university.

Illustration alumnus Todd Brausch (CCAD 1994) was featured in The Columbus Dispatch for his work restoring statues in the sanctuary of the Sacred Heart Church in Columbus, OH.

Brausch, who specializes in restoration, completed many different projects in the church including repainting walls, marbleizing columns, and restoring sculptures, altars, and the lectern.

“The level of craft mastery exhibited here is so phenomenal, nobody in this hemisphere can touch this,” Brausch said in the article.

Some students spend their free time reading a book or sleeping, but when Illustration alumna Marissa Schmidt (CCAD 2013) was a student she created caricatures of her favorite comedic TV characters. She was recently featured on Mashable for that work.

"Mashable contacted me a few days after I started posting sets of caricatures on my Tumblr," Schmidt said.
