Illustration alumnus Brian Uhl (CCAD 2008) will have a solo exhibition, Setting the Tripwire, beginning April 4 at Rise Above, a print shop and art gallery in Oakland, CA.

Uhl will show about 20 pieces of pen and ink work that incorporates washes of watercolor. He will have six color T-shirts available exclusively through Rise Above.

Illustration alumnus and Thomas Elementary School art teacher Zach Stoller's class blog was named best of the year by The Art of Education, an online resource for art educators.

Stoller (CCAD 2004) started the blog in 2009 during his first year as a full-time art teacher to share students' art with parents.

"[This award] is validation for all of the years of hard work that I have put into my job," Stoller told the site.

This semester, I'm taking John Kortlander's Advanced Figure Drawing class. Figure drawing has always been one of my favorite activities, and it is necessary to take several levels of drawing if you are an Illustration major like me.

Disney's latest animated feature, Frozen, is on fire and three CCAD alumni are basking in its success.

The film nabbed a Golden Globe for Best Animated Film and is nominated for two Academy Awards, Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

"The Golden Globe win has us all excited," said Alex Alvarado, 2011 Illustration alumnus and look development artist for Disney.

Media Studies Time-Based alumni Fawn Veerasunthorn (CCAD 2005) and Darren Simpson (CCAD 2011) also worked on the film.

For Illustration alumna Mandy Root-Thompson (CCAD 1991), medical illustration satisfies an intense curiosity.

"I had a great illustration instructor at CCAD, Walter King, who said, 'Illustration doesn't have to be real, it just has to be believable.' Though I always keep that in mind while drawing, I think the thing I like about medical illustration is that it has to be both real and believable," Root-Thompson said.

The Granville home and studios of Illustration alumnus Paul Hamilton (CCAD 1988) and Fashion Design alumna Amy (Tucker) Hamilton (CCAD 1991) were featured in the fall issue of Anthology.

The quarterly lifestyle magazine covers home decor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture.

Art by CCAD students will soon grace the walls of Target's newest distribution center in West Jefferson, OH, opening in March 2014. The national retailer held an art acquisition contest in March, charging CCAD students with the task of creating and pricing two-dimensional art suitable for a workplace environment.

Illustration alumna Isuri Dayaratne (CCAD 2012) has provided whimsical illustrations for the pages of The Boy Who Slept in the Sky, a children's picture book published in October.

Written by Sulochana Dissanayake, the tale chronicles the faraway adventures of a little girl who meets a boy in the sky.

Illustration alumnus John Malta (CCAD 2010) has been hard at work this fall, with numerous published illustrations, exhibitions across the country, and even a new comic scheduled to be released in November.
