When Illustration alumnus and former Disney animator Tracy Mark Lee (CCAD 1990) was a student, he won an illustration contest sponsored by Columbus Monthly magazine. Fourteen years later, Lee wanted to give current students the same type of real-world experience so he offered to lead a semester-long project in the form of a design competition.

Graphic Design USA magazine recently recognized Illustration alumnus John Olson (CCAD 2009), who is now a grad student at Pratt, as a 2014 Student to Watch.

The news magazine for graphic designers and other creative professionals recognized 25 undergraduate and graduate students from various art and design institutions around the country.

I don't know what to do with myself. Last Wednesday, I turned in my last homework assignment... ever. I wrote my last research paper on Tuesday, and I had my last presentation on Thursday, as well as my very last class. Unless I go to grad school, which is a slight possibility waaaay in the future, I am done with homework. Forever.

All of the end-of-the-year events are flying by, and now that I've had time to breathe, I've gotten a chance to truly reflect on my experience.

Illustration alumna Kirsten Bowen (CCAD 1989) is participating for a second year in the Contemporary Art Fair NYC, a showcase of independent artists and designers, May 8–11 in New York City.

Bowen will show paintings created using a plaster technique she calls "Venetian impasto."

Columbus College of Art & Design students partnered with the You Will Rise Project, a multimedia anti-bullying initiative created by Illustration alumnus Paul Richmond, to create Art Against Bullying, a powerful exhibition now on display in CCAD's Design Studios on Broad.

Illustration alumnus Jack Montmeat (CCAD 2002) received a Certificate of Excellence award from the Portrait Society of America for his painting "The Girl in Red."

Montmeat spent several months on the award-winning oil painting and said that he learned much of what he knows about portraiture from classes and professors at CCAD.

Unlike Sakhile, who got to go to beautiful Savannah, Georgia, I decided to stay in Columbus for my very last spring break. I'm still new at my job, so I can't request vacation time, but I wanted to stay and make money anyway.

Advertising & Graphic Design alumna Malia Carter (CCAD 2013) was featured on Cbus Chic, an online lifestyle publication, on March 3.

Carter started an illustration blog, Deep Fried Freckles, in May 2011 to share her personal illustrations and side projects.

Oil paintings by Illustration alumna Amanda Hope Cook (CCAD 1999) will be on display in a solo exhibition titled C-Bus at Sharon Weiss Gallery from May 2 through June 1.

The works in the show depict iconic signature Columbus signs, such as those at Rife’s Market and Fireproof Warehouse & Storage Company.

This past weekend, CCAD hosted an AMAZING three-day symposium, called "Crafting Your Hustle," featuring four visiting artists. I may be biased (two of the artists focus on comics and one is my new boss...) but I found this to be an invaluable addition to my knowledge and motivation concerning my career.
