Photography alumna Kelsey McClellan distinctly remembers the high expectations set by her CCAD professors.
"They always reinforced in class, 'If you don't want to be doing your art, then go do something else. If this isn't the most important thing to you, why are you here?'"
That attitude has propelled the 2012 grad to early success in her career as the one-woman force behind the photography and videos at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, a Columbus-based, national company that has become a sensation for its daring ice cream flavors and distinctive design aesthetic.

Art by CCAD students will soon grace the walls of Target's newest distribution center in West Jefferson, OH, opening in March 2014. The national retailer held an art acquisition contest in March, charging CCAD students with the task of creating and pricing two-dimensional art suitable for a workplace environment.

Photography alumna Rachel Lauren (CCAD 2010) began photographing wolves as a student, and now her passion for the mysterious creatures fuels Ironwood Wolves, an organization that raises awareness and offers education through art.
"I loved incorporating these beasts, which society sees as dangerous, in my art," Lauren said. "Our goal is to ultimately change people's viewpoints on wolves."
Lauren works with three "ambassador wolves," Lucian, Eddard, and Cana, who were bred as human companions and have been trained to mingle with people and model for artists.

The art press is beguiled by the vivid, powerful photographs by Manjari Sharma (CCAD 2004) of subjects posing as Hindu deities on display now in a New York City gallery.
For The Lens photography blog at The New York Times, James Estrin writes that Sharma’s photographs “reveal that the connection between man and god goes both ways. It is an image of a god, but the god is a human being.”
