Do you hear what I hear?
Students, faculty, and staff on campus may be experiencing loud noises as result of construction near Design Studios on Broad. We expect that this construction work by our neighbors, including use of a backhoe-mounted hydraulic jackhammer, will continue for the next two weeks. Unfortunately, CCAD does not have control over the construction schedule. We apologize for any disruption you might experience as a result of it.
Writer & activist speaks April 2
Writer and activist adrienne maree brown, author of Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good, Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds, and the co-editor of Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction from Social Justice Movements, takes the virtual stage at CCAD noon–1 p.m. (EDT) Friday, April 2, as part of our Visiting Artists & Scholars Series. Tiaré Lani Jung will do a live graphic recording of brown’s talk for attendees to view.

#UOKCCAD?
Visit CCAD on Instagram Monday, April 5–Friday, April 9, for #UOKCCAD. April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and every year in early April, the Counseling & Wellness Center and CCAD Student Affairs organize a variety of programs that we call UOKCCAD Week: Sexual Violence Awareness, Prevention, and Empowerment of Survivors. Because of our continued remote learning situation this year, we’ve concentrated on sharing out resources and information with our community, and will be spreading the word online and through social media throughout the month.
Learn about The Power of Experience in retail
Our online lecture series featuring great minds in retail continues noon (EDT) Thursday, April 1, with The Power of Experience, from Jennifer Peterson, Chief Executive, Easton at Steiner + Associates. Peterson will discuss how brands that understand and harness that power of customer connection will be rewarded with loyalty and trust.
CCAD & Women's History Month
March is Women’s History Month, and we're proud of the contributions women have made to our college and to the fields of art, design, and education, starting from our founding in 1879 by five women. This month, we recognize them, as well as two notable women artists with ties to CCAD: Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson and Alice Schille.
Robinson gets her due in the NYT
Aminah Robinson, who died in 2015, recently was featured in The New York Times “Overlooked” series, which highlights “remarkable people whose deaths, beginning in 1851, went unreported in the Times.”
Baker shares inspiration
Assistant Professor Jeremy Baker shares some sources of inspiration as part of the ongoing “Book, song, site” feature on our blog.

CCAD students contribute to a Lasting Legacy
In honor of Women's History Month in March, Blockfort art gallery plays host to Lasting Legacies, an exhibition celebrating trailblazing women and curated by Panagiota Kourniotis (Illustration, 2022). The show runs through Saturday, April 3, and includes work by a number of CCAD family members, including Kayla Freeman-Haynes (Illustration, 2022), Clara Jenkins (Illustration, 2022), Erin Hogarty (Illustration, 2022), and Zoe Stark (Illustration, 2022).
They have designs on the future
Columbus College of Art & Design seniors Madison Moroi and Stephanie Wott (both Advertising & Graphic Design, 2021), were recently named “2021 Students to Watch” by Graphic Design USA magazine.
