Drawing & Printmaking Chair and Fine Arts alumnus Robert Robbins (CCAD 1990) has a solo exhibition, Frondescence, at the Bowery Gallery in New York, NY, July 9–27, with an opening reception July 11, 5–8 p.m. Robbins’ paintings depict imagined places that draw the viewer into the environment on the canvas. Unlike traditional landscape paintings, this series of work portrays a small, very dense section of a natural space.
Faculty, alumnus has solo show in New York
CCAD alumni have work in the group exhibition Elusive Nature at the Concourse Gallery in Upper Arlington, OH, through Aug. 20. Advertising & Graphic Design alumna Bonnie Weir (CCAD 1989) and Fine Arts alumni Casey Bradley (CCAD 2001) and Kathleen Pepicello (CCAD 2002) have work in the exhibition along with 22 other artists. Elusive Nature, which was juried by the gallery's visual arts committee, features work that reflectes on the relationship humans have with nature.

Fine Arts alumni Clint Davidson (CCAD 2000) and Bobby Silver (CCAD 1999), and Advertising & Graphic Design alumnus Paul Giovis (CCAD 2012) worked on 614 magazine’s 2013 ColumBest cover. The May cover featured Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams standing in front of a chalkboard elaborately sketched with images ranging from ice cream cones to burgers to wine glasses to a shirt and tie.

Alumna Marie Castano (CCAD 1962–964) has an exhibition with her uncle Giovanni Castano at the Brockton Public Library in Brockton, MA, June 15–Aug. 28. The exhibition Two Generations of Castano Artists will be on display in honor of the 100th anniversary of the library. Castano works in mixed-media collages, piecing together tapestry, vinyl, and leather with prints and photographs.
Alumna has exhibition in Massachusetts
CCAD artists have work in a group exhibition, I Forget to Forget, at the the Ohio State University's Urban Arts Space, June 15–July 20. Assistant professor and Fine Arts alumna Danielle Julian Norton (CCAD 1999) curated the exhibition that shows her work alongside seven other artists. CCAD-affiliated artists include assistant professor Shannon Benine, adjunct faculty and Fine Arts alumna Mariana Smith (CCAD 2002), professor and Fine Arts alumnus Tim Rietenbach (CCAD 1977), and adjunct faculty Melissa Vogley Woods.

Fine Arts alumna Soo Sunny Park (CCAD 1998) has an installation, Unwoven Light, on view at the Rice University Art Gallery in Houston through Aug. 30. The piece, which is created from 37 individually sculpted units of glass, is an abstract form suspended from the walls and ceiling.

Alumnus selected for university sculpture show
Fine Arts alumna Denise Romecki (CCAD 1976) will exhibit her work in Seeking Harmony with Nature: Ceramic Sculpture at the Zanesville Museum of Art through June 8. Romecki's clay sculptures focus on the raw elements of nature, including plants, trees, animals, and bodies of water. The Zanesville Museum of Art is located at 620 Military Rd., Zanesville, OH.
