We are about a month into the fall semester, and friend groups are in the final stages of formation. Mostly. For instance, when I was a freshman, I had trouble socializing and finding friends besides my roommates. I didn’t find a solid group of friends until nearly the end of my freshman year. To help speed along this process for others, here are some simple ways to find friends and socialize here at CCAD.

The life of an art student is rough. Between jobs, class, student organizations, and homework, there isn’t always a lot of time or money to take a break and go do something fun. But remember, it's important to take some time out and treat yourself (even if you are low on cash.) Check out these fun and cheap places to check out around campus!

Students choose Columbus College of Art and Design over similar colleges every year. So, I asked Freshman around campus, why they chose CCAD. Although answered varied, everyone concluded that they were drawn to CCAD because of the community here.

Mixed-media work by Illustration alumna Kelly Brown (CCAD 1996) is on display in the gallery space at Interrupt, an advertising agency in downtown Sylvania, OH.

Brown's mixed-media collages on paper and wood paneling as well as an acrylic painting on canvas, will be on display through July 15.

Brown is from Maumee, OH, where she attended Central Catholic High School.

Prints by Illustration alumnus Clinton Reno (CCAD 1995) will be on display beginning July 5 in Nocera + Reno: A Print Show at Rivet Gallery in Columbus' Short North Arts District.

Columbus's past meets meets its present in Cartoon Carnival, an exhibition organized by the Thurber House, Sunday Comix, and Wild Goose Creative.

Twenty-four local artists, including seven CCAD alumni, pay homage to humorist, cartoonist, and Columbus native James Thurber in the exhibition by reinterpreting his cartoons and stories.
